Revise: Major Anterior Muscles of the Human Body

There are around 640 named muscles in the human body - in addition to thousands of smaller (un-named) muscles.

Knowledge of muscle structure and familarisation with the major muscles of the body is an essential part of training in many therapies - such as Massage, Aromatherapy, Accupuncture, Shiatsu, and many others.

There are several key pieces of information that one may be required to memorize about each muscle on the syllabus of a massage or other therapy course. These may include the muscle's:

Position / Location in the Body; Origin; Insertion; Action.

This page is concerned with the location on the body of the muscles taught to therapists taking First-Level Courses.
