The "Knights" in the Tarot
Deck may also be known by other names (depending on the deck used).
For example, the Golden
Dawn Deck includes "Princes" and the Shapeshifter's
Tarot includes "Warriors" (not specifically male or female)
in place of the "Knights" of the Rider-Waite and Robin
Wood decks.
All Court Cards may be interpreted as referring to a person - the card
itself including information to identify the individual. Alternatively
they may be interpreted symbolically, in which case "Knights" are
often understood to represent "Movement" or "Travel" for
the Querent (which is another word for the "sitter", or person
receiving the reading).
The element of the Knights is "Air". Knights may indicate teenagers
- herlading much change, constant activity, yet with a young person's
optimism and determination.
The Knight of Wands expresses the theme of being alert to the possible
excess in situations.
When this Court Card appears in a spread to identify a person to the
sitter then the characteristics it conveys may include: Young men,
blond hair, blue or grey eyes, someone who is active yet hasty, the
astrological sign of Sagittarius. (This is not always the
purpose of the appearance of a Court Card in a spread.)
This card may mean that the sitter should look towards his/her inner
convictions to resolve a matter - rather than leaving it to others.
It may also refer to a house-move or change of residential address. |
