Two of Wands

The Tarot Suit of Wands

The "Twos" in the Tarot Deck generally concern aspects of duality - such as communication, dialogue, relationships, and the balancing of opposites.

In many decks (including, for example Rider-Waite and Robin Wood) the Two of Wands depicts a figure watching and waiting. This may be why the theme of this card is often described in terms of the need to watch and observe in preparation for a new business or other enterprise - this can be thought of as "responsible research".

This card may invite the seeker to take stock of his/her situation, resources available (personality, finances, connections, knowledge, skills, and so on), and how best they may be used. Especially in the cases of the Rider Waite and Robin Wood Decks which include an image of a figure holding a globe in his right hand, some readers interpret The Two of Wands as holding the whole world in one's hands. That is - it may suggest that that there is freedom to make our own choices.

Keywords summarising the possible meanings of this card include:

  • Creativity
  • Generosity
  • Good Things Coming
  • Kindness
  • Watch and Wait
  • Well-Balanced Person.
