Three of Pentacles

The Tarot Suit of Pentacles

The "Threes" in the Tarot Deck generally suggest a family unit of mother, father and child. This represents the resolution of the tension inherent in the number "two" (to due to opposition of oppposite extremes). However, this numerical "theme" is one of the least apparent of such themes as the "Threes" vary widely from suit to suit.

In the case of the Three of Pentacles the theme is honourable works, and the recognition of honourable works. Typical images depicted on this card are of skilled craftsmen or professionals engaged in their work. (The suit of Pentacles is concerned with all aspects of the material world - not just wealth and money.)

The presence of this card in a spread may suggest that we have the skills and abilities to find more creative solutions regarding the issue of the reading - or, more simply, that we should add our own personal creative touches wherever possible.

Keywords summarising the possible meanings of this card include:

  • Achievement
  • Artistic Ability
  • Master Craftsman
  • Skills Developed and Rewarded
  • Success follows effort and dedication.
