Two of Cups

The Tarot Suit of Cups

The "Twos" in the Tarot Deck generally concern aspects of duality - such as communication, dialogue, relationships, and the balancing of opposites.

The Two of Cups often depicts a couple (as in the Rider-Waite and Robin Wood Decks), but may alternatively depict other symbols of duality (as in the Golden Dawn Tarot Deck) - in addition to the two cups that appear on most versions of this card.

This card usually refers to the wholeness that can be found through relationships. This can include our own inner relationship between our masculine and feminine aspects. It can also refer to external relationships between ourselves and a lover, colleague, business partner, friend, or family member.
The Two of Cups can remind us that apparent opposition may be reconciled by paying attention to the feelings of those involved.

Keywords summarising the possible meanings of this card include:

  • Co-operation
  • Friendship
  • Good Partnership
  • Harmony
  • Platonic Love.
