Ace of Cups

The Tarot Suit of Cups

As with all "Aces", the Ace of Cups represents, a fresh start, new beginning, fresh opportunity, and positive creative force.
Aces in general herald new beginnings and opportunities.

The Ace of Cups conveys the theme of the gift and power of emotions. This card may indicate the beginning of a new flow of emotions into our lives. Indeed, in many decks (such as, for example, the Rider-Waite and Robin Wood Decks) the Ace of Cups card shows a cup that is overflowing - to represent the abundance of positive emotions signified by this card.

This card can also raise issues of nuturing ourselves and others. When this card appears in a spread it may invite us to identify how we can nuture ourselves more successfully.

Keywords summarising the possible meanings of this card include:

  • Abundance
  • Faithfulness
  • Fertility
  • Fulfillment
  • Love
  • Positive Outlook.
