E160e is a food additive approved by the European Union
(EU).
It is used as a synthetic colouring agent in food and drink products.
The common name for E160e is Beta-apo-8'-carotenal
(C30).
E160e is an orange/red colouring and although synthetic
when used as a food additive, also occurs naturally in tangerines and
oranges. It
is soluble in oil.
Frequent high doses of E160e may discolour the skin.
Examples of food/drink products that may include E160e:
Processed cheese and
citrus fruits.
