E315

E315 is an additive approved by the EU (European Union).
It is used as a synthetic antioxidant in food and drink products.

The common name for E315 is erythorbic acid.
It may also be referred to as araboascorbic acid or saccharosonic acid.

E315 is a synthetic isomer (compounds with the same molecular formula, but a differing structural formula) of Vitamin C, and is produced from sucrose. E315 has a much lower vitamin activity than E300.
E315 is also a stereoisomer of ascorbic acid (E300).

E315 has been known to irritate the skin, eyes and respiratory system (in some circumstances).
