Achilles (Calcaneal) Tendon

The Achilles Tendon (which also known as the Cancaneal Tendon) is the tendon of the muscles of the calf (lower-leg) and is located above and at the back of both heels. It is attached to the calcaneus (heel bone).

See the page about Posterior Muscles of the Human Body for further information about the location of the Achilles (Cancaneal) tendon - including a larger fully labelled diagram. This may be particularly interesting study/revision material for students following courses in Massage or Reflexology because such courses generally require a good basic knowledge of the skeletal structures of the hands and feet.
