Gluteus Maximus

The Gluteus Maximus muscles are a pair of muscles located in the buttocks and responsible for the movement of the thigh/s.

Point(s) of Origin:

Medial iliac crest, sacrum, coccyx and sacrotuberous ligament.

Point(s) of Insertion:

Proximal Part: Iliotibial band;
Distal Part: Gluteal tuberosity of femur.

Action(s):

Extends and outwardly rotates the hip; Extends the trunk (torso) of the body.
