| E217 is a food additive approved by the European Union
(EU) and is used as an antifungal and antibacterial synthetic preservative
in food products.
The preservative E217 is also known by the chemical
name sodium propyl p-hydroxybenzoate.
E217 is banned in Australia and has been linked to a numb mouth as well,
irritation to the skin.
Examples of food/drink products that may include E217:
Soft drinks, alcoholic drinks, ice cream, medicine.
