Deltoid

The deltoid muscles are thick triangular muscles that cover the shoulder joints. Each deltoid muscle comprises of three parts: the anterior part, the lateral part, and the posterior part.

Point(s) of Origin:

Anterior Part: Lateral clavicle.
Lateral Part: Acromium process (on the scapula bone).
Posterior Part: Spine of scapula.

Point(s) of Insertion:

Deltoid tuberosity of humerus

Action(s):

Anterior Part: Draws arm forward, inwardly rotates and aducts the arm.
Lateral Part: Abducts the arm.
Posterior Part: Draws the arm back and abducts the arm.
