Ophthalmia

Ophthalmia is a general term that refers to "inflammation of the eye", and particularly the conjunctiva.
(See the page about conjunctivitius for more information about inflammation of the conjunctiva specifically.)

Sympathetic ophthalmia is another form of uveitis (inflammation of the eye) and can affect all parts of the uveal tract of the both eyes. This condition is known to develop following some cases of trauma and (although more rarely), following some surgical producures on the eyes.
