The Ciliary Ring is
located in each eye in the human body.
It is the modern name for one of the three "zones"
of the ciliary
body (connecting the choroid with
the iris).
The ciliary ring is also know as the orbiculus ciliaris,
another descriptive term that is used is older textbooks and medical
papers.
The ciliary ring (or "orbiculus ciliaris")
is an area approx. 4 mm wide in which the ciliary body is connected
to the anterior (front) part of the choroid.
This is primarily a connecting component and as such does not have
as active a role as the ciliary
muscle, for example.
The subject of visual (also known as "physiological")
optics is a key component of many courses within the fields of
both biology and physics. It is also an essential consideration
in the design of displays and control units used in many applications
from
televisions
and mobile telephones to advanced aircraft. In the context of engineering
"visual optics" is one of several medical and psychological topics in
the important area of "Human Factors
