Sagittal suture

Get a new perspective - with a Hot Air Balloon Flight. Fly from locations all over the UK.

The Sagittal Suture is a simple joint that unites the parietal bones of the skull.

It is one of several "sutures", which are a type of immovable joint that exists only between the skull (or "cranial") bones.
These sutures are fibrous joints composed of a thin layer of dense fibrous connective tissues. The irregular interlocking edges of the bones attached by these sutures contributes to the overall strength of the joints and so and reduces the probability of fracture due to impacts or other possible damage.
