The Abdominus Transversalis is a deep muscle located in the abdomen.

As an example, to test your knowledge look at the image opposite and decide which muscle you think the abdominus transversalis is, then click on the image to check if you were correct, and for the labels of all the other muscles illustrated.
For a detailed illustration of its location see the pages about Anterior Muscles in the Revision for Therapists Section of the IvyRose website.

Note that it should also be easy to work out the location of the Abdominus Transversalis because in the context of anatomy, the term "transverse" (and it's derivatives) refers to components situated at right-angles (i.e. perpendicular) to the long axis of either the whole body, or a specific organ. It is generally obvious from the context whether the component is named relative to the whole body, ot to a specific organ. For example, the Abdominus Transversalis muscle is so named due to it's position relative to the whole body because it is approximately perpendicular to the main (long) axis of the human body.
