Chronic

The term chronic is used to refer to a condition, disease, or disorder that persists (or has persisted) over a long period of time, usually involving only very slow and gradual changes of symptoms.

The term chronic does not include any information about the severity of the condition - which may be severe and extremely debilitating, or mild and hardly noticeable.

For comparision, consider the meaning of the term: acute.
