Temporalis

The temporalis is a facial muscle of which one is located on either side of the head - slightly above and forward of each ear.

The points of origin and insertion, and the action of the temporalis are tabulated below:

Temporal bone.

Mandible.

Elevates and retracts the mandile (jaw bone).

This is one of the muscles of the head, neck, and face that is included on the syllabus of many courses in Indian Head Massage.
