Sunflower Oil is one of many carrier oils
used in massage, aromatherapy,
and other body-work treatments.
Sunflower
Oil (from Helianthus annuus L.)
is extracted by cold pressing in the case of organically grown sunflower
plants, and by solvent-based refining in the case of non-organically
grown sunflower plants [17]. Sunflower Oil itself is almost odourless, and
contains several vitamins, including vitamin A, D, and E.
Although sunflower oil can be used as a massage carrier oil, it is not
among the most popular oils used for this purpose. Where used it may
be selected for its beneficial properties for skin problems such as bruises.
It is also used as an ingredient in preparations for some skin conditions,
also haemorroids, acne, seborrhoea, rhinitis and sinusitis.
