| Passion Flower Oil is one of the many carrier oils
used in massage, aromatherapy,
and other body-work treatments.
Passion Flower Oil (from Passiflora incarnata L.)
is extracted by the process of maceration of the flowers of the passion
flower plant (usualy in organic sunflower oil).
This is a truely beautiful plant
orginally from the southern hemisphere but now cultivated around the
world. It is so named because components of the plant such as the stigma,
stamens, and sepals were thought to represent Christ's passion & crucifixion.
It has a long history of therapeutic use by many civilisations including
the Aztecs and Incas who prized this plant for its pain releasing properties.
It has also been used to alleviate neuralgia and other irritative disorders.
Passion Flower Oil is not one of the most well-known carrier oils but
it can be used as a massage oil and is said to be a good relaxant that
may be beneficial in cases of insomnia..
