Aniseikonia is a condition in which the
image of an object formed in the right-eye differs significantly (in size
or shape) from the image of the same object formed in the left-eye.
When the images of the same object on the right- and left- eyes appear
to be too different, e.g. in size, diplopia,
disorientation, eyestrain,
headache, and dizziness and balance disorders can result.
In many cases aniseikonia can be treated with the use
of corrective lenses, such as spectacles or contact lenses - which must
be prescribed specifically for each patient according to his/hers needs.
