Blepharoplasty

A blepharoplasty is a procedure also known as a tarsoplasty.

These terms may be used to refer to any operation to repair or reconstruct an eyelid.

A blepharoplasty may be an essential functional surgical producure to repair damage e.g. due to trauma, or it may be carried out for cosmetic reasons. It can involve rearrangement or adjustment of the existing tissues of the eyelid, or may in some cases use tissue from other sites. There are more specific terms used to describe a blepharoplasty carried out in particular circumstances and/or done in particular ways - "blepharoplasty" is therefore a general term for reconstruction of an eyelid.
