A Keratoplasty is also known as a Corneal
Graft.
(That this term concerns the cornea of the eye is indicated by the
part of the term "kerato-" which refers to
the cornea of the eye, and is also applied to other terms in this section
- listed on the left).
A Keratoplasty is an ophthalmic surgical operation
in which diseased parts of the cornea
of an eye
are removed and replaced by clear (transparent) corneal tissue from a
donor.
There are different extents of keratoplasty, depending
on the initial state of the eye in need of treatment.
