A new government-led anti-smoking campaign is making
changes to the warnings on cigarette and tobacco packs - and you can
help influence the decisions !
The British Heart Foundation is currently backing the new 'hard hitting'
Department of Health campaign to change the warnings on cigarette and
tobacco packs. The British Heart Foundation (BHF) is inviting everyone
to join the debate by voting today...
After three years of the written warnings on packs, there is a common
concern that smokers have become too complacent and are no longer affected
by the information they are exposed to.
This is despite the fact that smoking causes over 30,000 deaths a
year from cardiovascular disease in the UK.
The European Commission has developed 42 graphic images/warnings for
countries in the European Union to use on tobacco packets. Of these
images 14 will be chosen for use in the UK.
The Department of Health is currently conducting a web survey where
you can vote for the images you think will be most effective.
It doesn’t matter if you are a smoker, ex smoker or have never
touched a cigarette in your life, the survey is open to all and it
only takes a few minutes…
The closing
date is this Friday 25 August - so there’s no time to lose.
