NSW Chief Health Officer, Dr Kerry Chant, today advised that as of 29 May,
there were no cases of local transmission of human swine influenza (H1N1 Influenza
09) within NSW.
"The community has been co-operating very well with our public health
requests, which is helping to prevent local transmission of human swine influenza
across NSW," Dr Chant said.
"There are now a total of 38 NSW residents from the Pacific Dawn
cruise ship which arrived into Sydney at 8.00am EST on Monday, who have returned
positive test results for human swine influenza. This brings the total number
of confirmed human swine flu cases in NSW to 48.
The majority of the confirmed cases only have a mild illness. No confirmed
cases in NSW have been admitted to hospital," Dr Chant said.
