Sainsbury's withdraws its Strawberry Pencils
Sainsbury's has withdrawn its Strawberry
Pencils (75g), because the product contains wheat gluten but a
'suitable for coeliacs' label appears on the product packaging. Coeliacs are
people with coeliac disease and are sensitive to gluten. This product might
be a health risk for people who are allergic to or intolerant of wheat gluten.
The Agency has issued an Allergy Alert advising anyone with an allergy of or
intolerance to wheat gluten not to eat this product.

The product being withdraw is:
* Sainsbury’s Strawberry Pencils, 75g
* Best before: all dates
* Product code: all codes
The product has been distributed throughout Sainsbury’s supermarkets
within the UK. Sainsbury’s supermarkets have withdrawn all date codes
of this product. Point-of-sale notices will be displayed in Sainsbury’s
stores to tell consumers. In addition, the company will contact the relevant
allergy support organisations, which will inform their members of the withdrawal.
If you have bought this product you can return it to the store’s customer
service desk for a full refund.
No other Sainsbury’s products are known to be affected.
