Research tender opportunities
The Agency is advertising two research requirements. One is for a cardio-metabolic
health and carbohydrate systematic review; the second is for the application
of eatwell plate advice to weekly food intake.
A cardio-metabolic health and carbohydrate systematic review
The Agency requires a systematic review of the evidence of the benefits and
risks of different dietary carbohydrates on cardio-metabolic health and disease
(including cardiovascular disease, diabetes, insulin resistance, glycaemic response
and obesity).
The purpose of the review is to provide clarification of the relationship between
dietary carbohydrate and cardio metabolic health and disease to enable the Scientific
Advisory Committee on Nutrition to draw conclusions and make recommendations
from which the Agency and the Department of Health can develop public health
recommendations and inform Government policy.
Deadline for receipt of applications is 12 February 2009.
The eatwell week – the application of eatwell plate advice to
weekly food intake
The aim of this project is to expand the guidance around the eatwell plate
to design and test an eatwell week sample menu. Using the eatwell plate guidance
and other Agency advice on healthy eating, including the eight tips for eating
well and traffic light labelling, the eatwell week will demonstrate to consumers
and stakeholders how to create a balanced diet over one week.
The eatwell week project will cover the following three main areas:
* development of the eatwell week menu including meals, additional foods,
snacks and beverages
* development of an eatwell week resource including photographs and supplementary
information
* testing of the eatwell week resource in focus groups with key lay and professional
stakeholders
Deadline for receipt of applications is 20 February 2009.
