Princes take part in Enduro motorcycle challenge
Princes William and Harry have completed the second leg of the Enduro Africa
charity motorcycle tour of South Africa’s Eastern Cape. A photogallery
from the event is now available here.
The 1,000 mile journey saw the princes and 80 other intrepid motorcyclists
take on eight days of demanding cross-country riding against a backdrop of spectacular
coastline.
UNICEF is one of three charity beneficiaries of the event, along with Sentebale,
the charity of which Prince Harry is patron, and the Nelson Mandela Children’s
Fund. Each charity is set to receive in excess of £100,000 from Enduro
Africa 2008.
In total, 180 riders took part in the event over the two legs, each of whom
generously donating a minimum of £1,500 to take part. The first group
left Port Elizabeth on 4 October and the second, which included the princes,
departed from Port Edward on 17 October. As well as taking in the scenery, participants
were given the opportunity to interact with local communities along the way.
