The Stratum Germinativum is a layer of
skin located within the epidermis.
(The skin is also known as the "integument",
or "integumentary
system").
More specifically, the stratum germinativum is labelled
as the deepest layer of the epidermis (outer-skin) in some texts. However,
in other texts this layer is not mentioned and instead the
two layers within it are labelled individually.
These layers are the
stratum
spinosum and
the stratum
basale - layers which, together, form the stratum germinativum.
