Shiatsu originates from Japan (which is also true of Reiki,
though the two are not closely related), and is generally a highly relaxing
personal
treatment carried out while the patient remains clothed in loose comfortable
garments. The result should be a pleasant feeling of tranquillity and
well being.
Shiatsu is a massage-based therapy that includes a range of acupressure
techniques (including gentle stretching, rocking and holding various
acupressure points) for the purpose of optimising flow of life-force
energies around the meridian systems
of the body.
This treatment is related to accupuncture but involves only the
application of pressure, and not the insertion of needles in to
the
accupressure/accupuncture points. Further information about Shiatsu will be added to this
website at a later date. |
