Pre-Menstrual Tension (PMT)

Cause

Pre-menstrual Syndrome, often better known as "PMS" or "PMT", is associated with the accumulation of salt and water in tissues.
The hormone progesterone is thought to be a causative element and a deficiency of fatty acids has also been observed.
(Some writers have also made claims that this condition is largely psychological - it has certainly been a subject of debate.)

Effect (Symptoms)

Nervousness; irritability; emotional disturbance; headache; and/or depression – said to affect some women for up to about 10 days prior to menstruation.
