Parasiticide

The term parasiticide refers to therapeutic agents (e.g. natural substances such as herbs, oils, or essences, or conventional pharmaceutical drugs) that destroy and so prevent the spread of parasites such as fleas, lice, etc. but excluding bacteria and fungi (which are destroyed by other types of agents - germicides and fungicides respectively).

The meaning of the term parasiticide is easily remembered from its form:
The -cide part of the word refers to the fact that this agent kills/destroys something, and
the parasiti- part of the word indicates that the something it kills is "parasites".
