Malpighian Layer

The Malpighian Layer is another name for the "germinative layer" or the "stratum germinativum".

This is the deepest layer of the epidermis and itself consists of the stratum spinosum and the stratum basale.

The skin is also known as the "integument", or "integumentary system".
