Lavender Essential Oil

Lavender is one of the most well-known (scented) essential oils used in aromatherapy.
Essential oils are generally used in very small quantities, e.g. measured as a small number of drops of the essential oil in a larger quantity of an appropriate carrier oil.

Method of Extraction:

Steam distillation (from fresh flowering tops).

Main Constituents:

linalyl acetate, linalol, lavandulol, lavandulyl acetate, terpineol, cineol, limonene, ocimene, caryophyllene. (Note that the constituents of the oil vary according to the location and conditions in which the plant grew, these are typical examples.)

From:

Native to the Mediterranean countries, especially France and Spain. A very popular plant, now cultivated all over the world.
