Keratectasia is also sometimes known as
kerectasia and as corneal ectasia.
(That this term concerns the cornea of the eye is indicated by the
prefix "kerat-" which refers to the cornea
of the eye, also applied to other terms in this section - as listed on
the left).
Keratectasia is the (abnormal) bulging of the cornea
of the eye
at the site of scar tissue, which is thinner than normal corneal tissue.
Other definitions of keratectasia indicate that it is
simply "a thinning and herniation of the cornea".
