Grapefruit Essential Oil

Grapefruit is one of many (scented) essential oils used in aromatherapy.
Essential oils are generally used in very small quantities, e.g. measured as a small number of drops of the essential oil in a larger quantity of an appropriate carrier oil.

Method of Extraction:

Cold expression (from the fresh peel).
Also, some oil may be distilled from the peel and other remains of the fruit after its juice has been extracted - the oil that results from this technique is of a lesser quality.

   

Main Constituents:

limonene, cadinene, paradisiol, neral, geraniol, citronellal, sinensal.

   

From:

Native to Asia and the West Indies but now cultivated in many countries worldwide.
