Fluorite is an ionic solid that comprises its constituent elements (calcium and flourine) arranged in the cubic system of crystal symmetry. It often includes a range of colours such as purple, green, and colourless areas.

The name "Fluorite" is derived from the Latin verb "fluere", which means "to flow". It is so named because of its low melting point (hence it is used as a flux in in the smelting of metals).

Fluorite is found in a wide range of locations including: Brazil, Canada, China, England, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, USA.

Fluorite is sometimes associated with:
