Filament(s)

There are two types of muscle filaments.
They are called thick filaments and thin filaments.

Together, these two types of protein filaments form cylindrical structures called myofibrils.

The thin filaments and thick filaments within the myofibrils overlap in defined patterns that form units called sarcomeres.
