E308 is an additive approved by the EU (European Union).
It is used as a synthetic antioxidant in food and drink products.
The common name for E308 is gamma–tocopherol.
E308 acts as an antioxidant in fatty products, mostly to prevent olive
oil turning rancid.
Gamma–tocopherol is biologically less active
than alpha–tocopherol (E307).
Examples of food/drink products that may include E308:
Processed meat, cheese and vitamin enriched foods.
