Calmative

The term calmative is sometimes used to refer to agents (e.g. natural substances such as herbs, oils, or essences, or conventional pharmaceutical drugs) that act as a sedative.

This is not a standard medical term and therefore is not included in some of the leading medical / biological dictionaries. However, the term "sedative" is included and is generally defined as a drug/agent that has a calming effect, relives anxiety, tension, and distress.
