Ophthalmology is the medical specialty concerned
with the diagnosis and treatment of disorders that
affect the
eye and associated parts of the visual system.

More about Ophthalmology:
A medical specialist in the field of ophthalmology
(diagnosing and treating disorders of the eyes and
associated visual system) is called an ophthalmologist.
This is not to be confused with an optician. There
are two types of opticians. They are:
Dispensing Opticians - who make and fit spectacles,
and
Opthalmic opticians who are also known as optometrists
and who can both test people to determine the
spectacles required and also dispense them.
The adjective used to refer to ophtalmology is
"ophthalmological".
