The ancient art of tea-leaf reading waned in popularity
when tea-bags were introduced in around the 1950s
and 1960s. Obviously tea-leaf reading requires the
use of loose tea !
This form of divination was taught through families,
usually for mother to daughter or granddaughter.
However, as more "modern" attitudes became
popular, interest declined.
As can be seen from the range of publications on
this page, interest in tea-leaf reading is now enjoying
something of a revival - perhaps aided by the tea-leaf
reading lessons at Hogwarts School in the Harry
Potter novels.
